Ellen Bowser is both a registered dietitian and registered nurse. She received her MS in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida in 1989. She was a long-term nutrition trainee with the UF PPC in 1988. She has worked as the Faculty Nutritionist with the UF Pediatric Pulmonary Center since 1990. Ellen’s primary role at the PPC is the training of students and interns (both dietetics and other health professionals), the provision of continuing education and research. Her areas of interest include nutrition for children with cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and asthma. She is also an Evidence Analyst for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Evidence Analysis Project and has worked on several projects including Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She is active in the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group of the American Dietetic Association, and was awarded “Outstanding Member of Year” by that professional organization in 2005.
